Handmade from terracotta clay, a cord burning bowl is used during a cord burning ceremony to separate baby’s umbilical cord using flame from candles.

Cord burning is an alternative to cutting the cord with scissors.

This is a slow and gentle process, believed in traditional Chinese culture to maintain baby’s Qi from the placenta.

The bowl contains four divots, two for each of the candles, and two for the cord to sit upon.

The candles are used to burn through the umbilical cord to detach baby from their placenta. It is a slower and more integrative process which can take around 15 minutes to complete.

The pillar candles are individually hand-rolled using natural honeycomb beeswax, and smell divine while they burn. Each set contains two candles.

This ceremony can mark the rite of passage of baby landing earth side.

The ritual also has the ability to be sterile without the use of sterilised equipment due to the heat from the flame.

*please use a heat guard to shield baby from the flame
