About
hello, I’m lily.
I am a full spectrum Birth Doula, Ceremony Facilitator, Placenta Remedy Specialist & Mother residing on Gumbaynggirr land in Bellingen, NSW.
At the core of my work is the foundation of ritualising and sanctifying the journey of birth & postpartum.
I deeply prioritise learning from the traditional source of wisdom when seeking out new skills and learnings. This has led me to sitting at the feet of an intact lineage of Mayan midwives in Guatemala, studying Ayurveda in the mountains of Nepal, and learning Traditional Birthkeeping on community in the southern foothills of Spain. Learning in devotion from wisdom keepers, primordial healers, wise women, grandmothers, traditional midwives, birth activists, and of course birthing mothers themselves.
My focus as a doula is to support women to feel safe, held, supported and nourished through the massive initiation that is matrescense. Through prenatal, birth and postpartum care I offer deeply devotional service, including nourishing bodywork, homemade meals to replenish, hands-on support, and rituals for integration and celebration always woven throughout.
The voice is deeply woven into my work, and it is my belief that birthwork is voicework and vice versa. To activate our voice is to activate our wombs, and this is one of our deepest preparations for birth and motherhood. My work as a choir teacher and songstress allows me to hold a container for my doula clients to remember and reclaim their voice as an active part of birth awareness.
Becoming a mother myself has deeply and profoundly both humbled and ignited me in my work, and as a woman. I am a solo mother to my son, and I live in devotion to him, alongside the birthing mothers who I tend to.
In my past I have been & studied to be many things: a yoga teacher (specialised in prenatal), a young girl’s maidenhood circle facilitator, a student of Ayurveda in Kathmandu, a Hare Krishna Vaishnava, a fertility awareness teacher, a fashion student, an art student, a kirtan singer, a van-lifer, a solo-traveller, a placenta specialist, an activist — but it is here in the realm of honouring the archetypal embodiments of the feminine & mother that I have found a home.
Today I spend my time mothering my boy, working one-on-one with my clients, gardening, growing flowers, making ghee, singing, stretching, cooking, exploring by the river, and always learning and connecting. I’m grateful to you for being here.
