Birth Portal Closing Ceremony

A$220.00

Traditionally known in Mayan Culture as a ‘Closing of the Bones’ ceremony.

It is said that the mother’s spirit journeys through the ethers to the spirit realm to collect the soul of her child during childbirth. A Birth Portal Closing Ceremony is believed to call the mother’s spirit back to her body and support grounding after giving birth. The ceremony honours the transcendental journey of pregnancy, birth and postpartum through ritual; recognising your transformation, honouring you in your role of woman and mother, and allowing you to process your experience through this sacred rite of passage.

The process involves anointing your womb with warm oil for womb massage, before being wrapped up in traditional handwoven Rebozos to journey to your inner underworld, retrieving your sovereign spirit. Sanctifying the mother-baby dyad as baby develops, and blessing the portal of your body for creating and sustaining life.

The ceremony may include birth story sharing, shamanic drumming and release to support soul retrieval, sound healing, and other modalities as we flow through the session to nourish and honour you as you need.

The ceremony is often practiced after the sacred 40 day window. 1-6 months postpartum is ideal, but the ceremony can even take place years after giving birth.

Sessions are held in the temple space — 2/30 Station Road, Margaret River.
