How Placenta Collection Works…

prior to birth

When you book with Placenta Temple, you will be directed to select a date to recieve your Placenta Pack from the Temple space in Margaret River. This is a chance for us to meet, have a cup of chai and run through everything together.

Your Placenta Pack contains your placenta esky, placenta container, icepacks, Placenta Care Guide & remedy information.

We recommend popping your provided icepacks in the freezer as soon as possible, so they are ready to go, prior to going into labour. Ensure that you have your Placenta Pack (provided esky and Placenta Care Guide) somewhere safe and handy for when labour begins. Bring your Placenta Pack with you to your birthing location.

during birth

Please let me know when you go into labour so I can plan to collect your placenta after birth.

If you are planning a water birth, it is best to birth the placenta outside of the birthing water, as the pool water can potentially contaminate the placenta, which makes it not advised to consume. You can of course still birth your baby into the water - simply stand or change locations when you are ready to birth your placenta.

Please ask your midwife to assist you to birth your placenta onto a clean surface. A clean and sterile pad will be perfect.

after birth

From here, your midwife can inspect your placenta as usual, and then place it into the designated container.

In the container, the placenta can then be placed into the provided cooler box, along with the pre-prepared icepacks, or into a fridge, ready for collection.

I will collect your placenta at a location convenient to you within 24 hours after birth. This can be arranged with your birth partner, so you can keep soaking in the precious post- birth moments undisturbed.

Your remedies will be prepared lovingly and sacredly, and delivered back to you within 3 days.
